• For Outlook on the Web (OWA), you need to change the targeted publishing preferences for all your users from the Office 365 admin console. This change can take up to 24 hours to apply on the Office 365 side. We recommend that you do this step first.

  • For the Outlook email client (Windows version only), you will need to modify in the Microsoft Office Deployment Tool (ODT),

Modification of the publishing preferences from the Office 365 Admin console

From the Office 365 Admin Center, go to Settings > Organization Settings, then in the "Organization Profile" tab, choose "Publishing Preferences".

In the new window on your right, select "Standard release for everyone" then "Save".

For the Outlook email client (Windows version)

!! Before you start, you must have administrator rights on the machine!!!

With the Microsoft Office Deployment Tool (ODT)

Once the ODT is downloaded, double click on it, then select a location, in order to extract its contents. (In this example, we will create a new folder named "Letsignit" directly on the desktop)

In this folder, 4 files will be available.

You must delete these two files:

  • Configurations-Office365-x86 (to be deleted)

  • Configurations-Office2019Enterprise (to be deleted)

Modifications to the configuration file

Right click on the file "configuration-Office365-x64" and click on "Edit". A text editor will open.

Look for the first line in the "Configuration" section:

<Add OfficeClientEdition=”64” Channel=”Beta”>

Change it like this:

<Add OfficeClientEdition=”64” Channel=”Current”>

Finally, delete the following lines:

<Product ID=”VisioProRetail”>

<Language ID=”fr-fr”/>

Your final file should look like this:

<Add OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="Current">
<Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
<Language ID="fr-fr" />

Remember to save the changes (CTRL + S), then close the text editor.

Download Office 365 on the Current channel

In order to install the version of Office 365 on the Current channel, we will open "a Windows command prompt" by typing cmd in the search bar at the bottom left of your screen:

Click on "Run as administrator" :

In the black window that has just opened, execute the following commands to reach the "Letsignit" folder on the desktop:

cd desktop ---> (Press the "Enter" key to confirm)

cd letsignit ---> (Press the "Enter" key to validate)

Once you are located in the correct folder, run this command to download the 64-bit version of Office 365:

Setup /download configuration-Office365-x64.xml ---> (Press the "Enter" key to validate)

Once this step is done, you need to run another command that will push the configuration change made to the file beforehand:

Setup /configure configuration-Office365-x64.xml ---> (Press the "Enter" key to validate)

The installation of Office 365 depends on the speed of connection you have, it can vary from 10 to 40 minutes.

Once these steps are completed, you can check that the configuration has been taken into account as below:
